Since graduating from The Central School of Speech and Drama in 2006, where Maya studied devising alongside some very talented performer/writers, she has been performing (in collaboration and on her own) some pieces of her own creation. ‘The Adventures of Nellie Bly’ is the most recent of these shows. Below is a yearly selection, though there have been many other one-off experiments of new writing as well as projects prior to 2007.

2014 – The Adventures of Nellie Bly (see Nellie Bly page!)

2014 Take Two Tablets – a comedic one-woman retelling of the story of the Jews in Mount Sinai, commissioned by West London Synagogue, with illustrations by Kate Bellamy.

2013 The Song of Ruth – a humorous musical one-woman retelling of The Book of Ruth from a young woman’s perspective, commissioned by West London Synagogue, with illustrations by Kate Bellamy.

2013 The Damsels Most Daring present ‘Miss Amelia’s Walkabout: An Action Adventure’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxkP34e_vj8

2012 The Damsels Most Daring present ‘The Bravery of Miss Anne and Other Tales of Splendorous Adventures’. Written by Maya and performed with Miss Emily Murphy, the show is comedic, musical storytelling theatre. Imagine a live radio play, but with far more to look at. And no radio. These 19th Century dames spin three thrilling tales, underscored by live piano. Performed at The Voodoo Rooms during Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 2012. http://www.damselsmostdaring.com; http://www.facebook.com/thedamsels

‘The stories are brief and charming, taking the traditional stereotypes
and subverting them in a way that constantly drew laughs from the
audience.’ –Broadway Baby ****

‘This delightful patchwork of tales is infused with an intimate and ramshackle charm’
